We don't all have to sing in the choir, but we can have fun singing along to the radio. I believe we all have an artist inside us. This blog is to help you find yours or at least help you keep your children from losing theirs. Having the right tools and knowing a few tricks helps, but most important is to lose the fear. Art is a way to have fun- it's okay to sing out of tune.
Spring bird drawings
Another spring project we did for our show was bird drawings. We used colored pencils and felt tip pens. We talked a little bit about John James Audubon and his bird artwork.
Each student brought a picture of a bird.
We talked about what shapes the birds could be broken down into- triangles and ellipses.
We sketched those first
and then sketched a few more lines
then did an outline in ink
We added details and shading with colored pencils last.
Press harder if you want a darker or brighter area and lift the pencil a little to get lighter areas. If you're new to this it's okay to practice on a piece of scratch paper.
